Wiper Seals

Wiper Seals: Essential for Hydraulic System Protection

Wiper Seals, also known as scraper seals or dust seals, are primarily designed to prevent contaminants from entering a hydraulic system. They achieve this by using a wiping lip that effectively cleans away any dust, dirt, or moisture from the rod of a cylinder during each cycle. This type of sealing is crucial, as contaminants can cause damage to other components of the hydraulic system and lead to system failure.

The wiping lip of a wiper seal always has a smaller diameter than the rod it seals. This ensures a tight fit around the rod, preventing dirt from entering in both static and dynamic positions while still allowing the reciprocating ram rod to pass through the inner bore of the seal.

Wiper Seals come in various styles, sizes, and materials to best suit the application and operating conditions of a fluid power system. Some wiper seals have secondary functions, such as a harder scraping lip to remove stubborn contaminants like bonded dirt, frost, or ice, or a secondary lip to capture any oil that may have bypassed the main seal.

Types of Wiper Seals

Hydraulic Single Acting Wiper Seal (A 01)

Wiper Seals, also known as Scraper Seals or Dust Seals are primarily designed to prevent contaminants from getting into a hydraulic system. This is usually achieved by the seal having a wiping lip that essentially cleans away any dust

Hydraulic Single Acting Wiper Seal (A 02)

Wipers play a vital role in hydraulic cylinder sealing setups by preventing external contaminants like dirt, dust, and moisture from entering the cylinder during retraction, ensuring a clean and efficient system

Hydraulic Single Acting Wiper Seal (A 03)

This is a Single Acting Wiper designed to clean dirt from the rod's surface. When the rod retracts, the wiper's pressure against it ensures effective dirt removal

Hydraulic / Pneumatic Double Acting Wiper Seal (A 11)

Hydraulic and Pneumatic Double Acting Wiper Seals are specialized components used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems to enhance the performance and longevity of the machinery
